CafeSeek は、喫茶店で鳴っていそうな音を 45 のチャンネルから選んで流しながら、カフェとコーヒーのことを読むためのサイトです。長く居ていい場所——いわゆるサードプレイス——が画面の中にもあっていい、という考えで作っています。

何をしているか

音は7つの主題（lo-fi、雨や焚き火、お店や列車の空間音、ジャズとピアノ、クラシック、アンビエント、呼吸を整える音）に分けてあります。それとは別に「こんなとき」——集中したい、力を抜きたい、寝入りたい、呼吸を整えたい、ここでない場所にいたい、曲を掘りたい——でも絞り込めます。同じ45件を、二つの入口から探せるようにしてあります。

同じサイトに、カフェの探し方と定番チェーンの店舗検索、コーヒーとカフェ文化の読みもの、自宅で淹れるための道具、独自記事5本があります。旧サイトの厳選リンク集は 厳選リンク にそのまま残してあります。

何をしていないか

配信を持ちません。再送信もミラーもしません。動画IDを保存しません。歌詞や楽曲名の一覧は作りません。プレーヤーの画面に広告を置きません。そして、音を勝手に鳴らしません——押されるまで、このサイトから音は出ません。

どうやって選んだか

候補を126件集め、そのうちその音の著作権が誰にあるかを公開資料で確かめられた56件だけを載せています。確かめられなかった70件は載せていません（捨ててもいません）。載っているのは、楽曲が入っていない録音（雨・波・焚き火・空間音）、レーベルが自分たちの曲を流しているもの、演奏者本人が自分の曲を流しているもの、著作権の切れた作品を楽団が演奏したもの、の4種類です。

安全だとは書きません。 公開資料から読み取れたことを書いているだけで、法的な判断ではありません。1件ずつの理由は 全チャンネル一覧 にあります。

運営者自身が条件を掲げているチャンネルがあります

3件については、運営者が自分のチャンネルで掲げている条件の文を、そのまま 全チャンネル一覧 に載せています。いずれも再アップロードについて述べたもので、公式の埋め込みプレーヤーについて述べたものではない、と読んでいます。この読みが違うとお考えの権利者の方は、お知らせいただければ取り下げます。

薄い棚があります

「喫茶店のジャズとピアノ」に2件しかありません。カフェのサイトとしては、ここがいちばん厚くあってほしい棚です。日本発のジャズ喫茶系のチャンネルは既存曲のカバーやアレンジが中心で、権利の所在が公開資料から確かめられなかったため、載せずに置いてあります。

まだ無いもの

カフェを訪ね歩く映像・店内映像のチャンネルは、まだ調べていません。「観る・聴く」の棚にあるのは、旧サイトから引き継いだリンクで、ここでは再生できません。次に手をつける予定です。

広告について

「おうちで淹れる」の棚と一部の記事に、広告（PR）を含むリンクがあります。PR の札を付け、プレーヤーの画面には置いていません。リンク先は当サイトが運営しない外部サービスです。

About this site

CafeSeek plays the kind of sound a coffee house would play — from 45 channels — while you read about cafes and coffee.

What it does

The sounds are grouped by seven subjects, and can also be narrowed by what you are doing right now: working, unwinding, falling asleep, breathing, being somewhere else, or digging into the music. The same 45 entries, two ways in.

The same site carries a curated directory of cafes and coffee culture, the store locators of ten Japanese cafe chains, gear for brewing at home, and five long reads. The old directory is kept intact at Directory.

What it does not do

It hosts no streams, re-transmits nothing, stores no video IDs, publishes no song or lyric lists, and places no advertising on the player screen. And it never starts sound on its own — nothing plays until you press.

How the list was made

126 candidates were gathered; the 56 whose rights could be traced in public sources were kept. The other 70 are not listed (and not discarded). What is listed falls into four kinds: recordings with no music in them; labels playing music they own; artists playing their own compositions; and orchestras performing works already in the public domain.

This page does not say any of it is “safe.” It reports what public sources showed. The reason for each entry is in All channels.

Three operators state their own conditions

For three channels, the operator’s own wording is quoted verbatim in All channels. Each concerns re-uploading rather than the official embedded player, as we read it. Rights holders who read it differently are welcome to tell us, and we will remove the entry.

One shelf is thin

“Jazz & piano” holds only two entries — the shelf a cafe site would most want to be full. Japanese jazz-kissaten channels mostly play covers and arrangements whose rights could not be traced in public sources, so they were left off.

Not here yet

Cafe-tour and in-store video channels have not been researched. What sits under “Watch & listen” is inherited from the old directory and cannot be played here.

Advertising

Some links under “Bring the cafe home” and in some articles are advertising (PR). They are labelled, and never placed on the player screen.
